Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support clinic operations, room patients, document visits, and assist with minor procedures in a Pediatric ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• Spanish proficiency is preferred for patient interactions.
• Certification as Medical Assistant CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA is required or preferred by law.
• BLS certification is required within 30–90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients from waiting areas to exam rooms and verify identity and attire.
• Obtain vitals (height, weight, temperature, pulse, BP) and collect basic medical history.
• Conduct Telehealth intake tasks and document vitals, history, and encounter details.
• Input patient data (vitals, medications, allergies, immunizations) into Epic and update rooming status.
• Prepare exam rooms, stock supplies, and assist with minor procedures as needed.
• Support cast room setup, cleaning, and supply management; participate in outreach clinics.
• Attend meetings and complete ongoing education and competency training.

Please click here to learn more about our locations.**Job Description**The Medical Assistant (MA) will support and facilitate clinic operations by performing clinical, clerical, and technical duties, including patient rooming, documentation during visits, assisting with minor procedures, managing supplies, supporting Telehealth services when applicable, and flexing to administrative support when needed. This role requires strong communication skills, clinical competence, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to ensure an optimal care experience for patients and families. Shriners Salt Lake City is looking for a full time Medical Assistant to join the team!**Key Responsibilities:*** Escort patients from waiting room(s) to exam room(s), confirming date of birth and ensuring patients are in the proper attire required for their visit* At relevant sites, MAs will walk patients to radiology or POPs rooms/waiting areas, in addition to rooming for clinic* Obtain patient vitals (height, weight, temperature, pulse, BP, etc.), draw blood, and conduct basic medical history (including chief complaint, medication history, social history, and family history)* Conduct Telehealth intake tasks – document vitals, medical history, and encounter details* Escort patients to check out and update rooming status in Epic* Monitor Epic DAR and communicate with all relevant teams (front desk, radiology, POPs, etc.) to ensure timely rooming and patient handoffs* Direct physicians and APPs to patient rooms based on Epic DAR status* Assist in patient education regarding casting care, surgical prep, and discharge instructions* Prepare exam rooms daily; stock and maintain supplies and equipment* At relevant sites, support cast room setup, cleaning, and supply management* Participate in outreach clinics and support continuity of care initiatives* Prepare and manage Telehealth rooms and equipment* Accurately input patient data (vitals, medications, allergies, immunizations, and intake notes) into Epic* Perform clerical duties including copying, faxing, scanning, and other correspondence handling* Clean exam rooms between patients* Support Physician Clinic order entry process according to established SCMG guidelines and workflows* Attend required meetings, in-services, and complete ongoing education, and competency training* Participate in department performance improvement and safety training**Required Qualifications:*** Medical Assistant Certification* Acceptable certifications include, but are not limited to: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA Required in states where certification is mandated by law or regulation.
