Job Summary:

This position, under direct supervision, aims to maintain efficient patient flow, assist with patient care, and perform tasks assigned by physicians and nurses.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Escort patients to exam or treatment rooms as appropriate.
  2. Record patient data before each visit, including vital signs, allergies, and medication list.
  3. Obtain all necessary records as required by the physician.
  4. Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
  5. Prepare/stocks exam rooms, order supplies, and maintain/control sample medications.
  6. Assist physicians/APPs with exams and procedures as requested.
  7. Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites following OSHA standards and universal precautions.
  8. Perform lab procedures and process lab specimens as needed.
  9. Follow disinfection protocols to keep exam rooms clean.
  10. Practice Standard Precautions, including hand washing and proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
  11. Assist with chart audits for future visits, ensuring all requested authorizations and medical records are received.
  12. Obtain new patient records, previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  13. Maintain a clean work environment and restock supplies as needed.
  14. Assist other staff or team members as requested by physicians, nurses, site managers, or executive management.
  15. Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification from an accredited medical assistant program required.
  • Preferred experience as a medical or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
