Job summary

US Foot & Ankle Specialists in Richmond, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and staff in a fast-paced podiatry office. You will prep patients, take vitals, document histories, and assist with minor in-office procedures including X-rays and post-op care.

The role requires a CMA/RMA preferred or MA program completion, with strong communication and teamwork as core strengths. Travel between local offices may be needed along with proficient use of Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience (preferred).
• CMA or RMA certification (preferred).
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
• Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
• Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)
• Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
• Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
• Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
• Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
• Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance

The Medical Assistant provides essential support and administrative services to the office, the doctors, and the patients in a fast-paced doctor’s office. This person will be involved in a wide spectrum of tasks focused around assisting the Physician in all minor in office procedures.
