Job summary

US Foot and Ankle Specialists in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Medical Assistant to provide essential support to clinicians and patients in a fast-paced podiatry practice. The role covers patient prep, vitals, EMR documentation, minor procedures, and post-operative tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a Medical Assistant program or 1+ year clinical experience, with CMA/RMA certification preferred. Travel between local offices may be required; Microsoft 365 skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience preferred.
• CMA or RMA certification preferred; knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures.
• Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR.
• Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting).
• Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education.
• Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed.
• Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service.
• Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies.
• Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance.

The Medical Assistant provides essential support and administrative services to the office, the doctors, and the patients in a fast-paced doctor’s office. This person will be involved in a wide spectrum of tasks focused around assisting the Physician in all minor in office procedures.
