Job summary

ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers in Maryland is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support providers and ensure a smooth patient experience in a fast-paced urgent care setting. Responsibilities include triage, EMR documentation, vital signs, basic lab work, medication administration, exam room prep, patient education, and administrative tasks.

Requires graduation from an accredited MA program and CPR certification; CMA/RMA/CCMA preferred; 1 year of clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and clinical externship.
• CPR certification is required.
• CMA/RMA/CCMA certification preferred.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office or hospital preferred.

Responsibilities

• Triage and document patient medical history in the EMR.
• Measure and record vital signs (BP, HR, temp, height/weight).
• Perform basic lab procedures (EKG, phlebotomy, specimen collection).
• Prepare and administer medications under physician supervision.
• Set up exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Educate patients on discharge instructions and medications.
• Complete checklists, inventory and records as part of administrative tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Medical history intake: Perform a detailed triage and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Vital sign measurement: Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and height/weight
• Basic lab procedures: Perform simple laboratory tests such as EKGs, phlebotomy, urine specimen collection, and influenza nasal swabs
• Medication administration: Prepare and administer oral and injectable medications under physician supervision
• Exam room preparation: Setup exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies
• Patient Education: Provide patients with basic health information and instructions regarding discharge papers and medications given by the provider
• Administrative tasks: Accurately complete checklists, inventory, and other written logs
• Education:
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and clinical externship (Required)
• Licenses & Certifications:
• CMA, RMA, or CCMA Certification preferred

• Work Experience:
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office or hospital (preferred)
