Job summary

ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers is hiring a Full-Time Medical Assistant in Overlea, MD to support our providers and ensure efficient patient flow. Responsibilities include triage, vital signs, basic lab procedures, and patient education within a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Qualified candidates will have completed an accredited MA program with externship, CPR certification, and at least one year of clinical experience; CMA/RMA/CCMA preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and clinical externship (Required).
• CPR Certification (Required).
• CMA, RMA, or CCMA Certification preferred.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office or hospital (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Medical history intake: Perform a detailed triage and document patient information in EMR.
• Vital sign measurement: Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, height/weight.
• Basic lab procedures: Perform simple tests such as EKGs, phlebotomy, urine collection, influenza swabs.
• Medication administration: Prepare and administer medications under physician supervision.
• Exam room preparation: Set up exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Patient Education: Provide basic health information and discharge instructions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Medical history intake: Perform a detailed triage and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Vital sign measurement: Measure and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and height/weight
• Basic lab procedures: Perform simple laboratory tests such as EKGs, phlebotomy, urine specimen collection, and influenza nasal swabs
• Medication administration: Prepare and administer oral and injectable medications under physician supervision
• Exam room preparation: Setup exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies
• Patient Education: Provide patients with basic health information and instructions regarding discharge papers and medications given by the provider
• Administrative tasks: Accurately complete checklists, inventory, and other written logs
• Education:
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and clinical externship (Required)
• Licenses & Certifications:
• CMA, RMA, or CCMA Certification preferred

• Work Experience:
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in a physician’s office or hospital (preferred)
