Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse.
• Prepare claimants for examinations and diagnostic testing, including ECG/EKG, ABI Testing, and PFT.
• Collect blood specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform Pulmonary Function Testing in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform Electrocardiograms and upload results for official interpretation.
• Calibrate clinic equipment and perform routine checks on AEDs.
• Chaperone claimants during examinations when required.
• Prepare examination rooms and equipment before appointments.
• Clean and disinfect examination rooms and medical equipment after claimant visits.
• Check claimants in and out of the clinic.
• Enter orders for diagnostic testing and review claimant medical records.
• Confirm appointments and assist with scheduling-related activities.
• Answer calls and greet claimants on arrival.
• Maintain medical supply inventory and remove expired items.

Loyal Source is seeking a Medical Assistant to support Compensation & Pension (C&P) disability examinations for Veterans applying for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

This role supports both clinical and administrative operations within the clinic by preparing claimants for examinations, performing diagnostic testing, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient clinic flow. The Medical Assistant serves as a key liaison between the examiner and the claimant to help deliver a positive and organized examination experience.

This is not a treatment role. The position does not include treatment planning, medication administration, or ongoing patient care management.

Pay Rate:

$21.67 /hr + $5.09 HW

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Clinics closed on holidays.

Location:

Pittsburgh, PA

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required to support other Loyal Source clinics, training, or company events.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

• Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse.
• Prepare claimants for examinations and diagnostic testing, including Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG), Ankle Brachial Index Testing, and Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT).
• Collect blood specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform Pulmonary Function Testing in accordance with established procedures.
• Perform Electrocardiograms and upload results for official interpretation.
• Calibrate clinic equipment, including daily calibration of Pulmonary Function Testing equipment and monthly calibration checks of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
• Chaperone claimants during examinations when required.
• Prepare examination rooms and equipment before appointments.
• Clean and disinfect examination rooms and medical equipment following claimant visits.

Administrative Duties

• Check claimants in and out of the clinic.
• Enter orders for diagnostic testing, including laboratory tests, sleep studies, X-rays, and Pulmonary Function Testing.
• Review and maintain claimant medical records.
• Confirm appointments and assist with scheduling-related activities.
• Answer incoming phone calls and greet claimants upon arrival.
• Manage clinic flow to support timely examinations and efficient operations.
• Maintain medical supply inventory, order supplies as needed, and remove expiring or expired items.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred where applicable by state regulations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, including required renewals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical, occupational health, or examination setting.
• Experience performing phlebotomy, Ankle-Brachial Index Testing, Electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), and Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT).
• Experience supporting Veterans, military populations, or government healthcare programs.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and web-based documentation platforms.

Physical and Schedule Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing, walking, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer.
• Ability to assist claimants and perform routine clinical duties throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move medical supplies and equipment as needed.
• Ability to see, hear, bend, stretch, and engage in routine clinical activities necessary to support examinations.
• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM standard schedule. Clinics are closed on holidays.
• Occasional travel may be required to support clinic operations, training, or company events.
