Qualifications

  • Graduate of Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred.
  • Current BLS card (American Heart Association provider).
  • Current CA Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.
  • Two years EMR/EHR experience highly preferred.
  • Two or more years of recent experience in a medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate patient flow and assist clinical providers with care activities.
  • Record patient data in person and by phone; document concerns in the EHR.
  • Schedule appointments and procedures; complete message taking and route messages to appropriate areas.
  • Enter orders and referrals; acquire pre-authorizations and basic registration; update demographics.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; accurately take and record vital signs.
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms and assist with clerical tasks as needed.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support to the clinical providers by facilitating patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative and clerical functions when needed, including: collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the EHR for the physicians’ review, scheduling of appointments and procedures, complete and accurate message taking, routing messages to the appropriate area for direction, order and referral entry, and acquisition of pre‑authorizations and basic registration and updating of demographics. Assists in preparing patients for examinations and procedures; accurately takes and records vital signs; enters necessary medical data in EMR/EHR; stocks and maintains exam room.
