Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support patient intake and clinical procedures in our Camden-area facilities. The role involves room setup, vital signs, EKGs, medication reconciliation, and patient communication under the supervision of a provider.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years in hospital/clinic settings, phlebotomy experience, and EKG proficiency. High school diploma required; medical assistant certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Performance of EKG required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the patient in the exam room.
  • Perform and document vital signs, EKGs, and reconcile medications.
  • Interview with patients about changes in health since last visit.
  • Assist the provider with minor surgical procedures.
  • Prepare medications for injections.
  • Handle phone messages, faxes, and medical reception duties as needed.

Short Description
  • Responsible for setting up the patient in the exam room
  • Perform and Document:
    • Vital signs (manual BPs),
    • EKGs,
    • Reconciliation of medications
    • Reason for visit, health care concern
  • Interview/Discuss with patient changes in patient’s health since last visit
  • Assist the provider with minor surgical procedures
  • Prepare appropriate medications for injections
  • Responsible for phone messages, faxes, and Medical Reception responsibilities as needed
Experience Required
  • 3 years’ experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Performance of EKG required.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • BLS Certification
