Job summary

Quality Talent Group is seeking a Medical Assistant for our healthcare client in the Cincinnati region. This role supports physicians with patient examinations, maintains patient flow, and documents vital signs, histories, and medications in the EMR.

The position requires a High school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Medical Assistant program or prior experience, and BLS certification. The role is available as full-time or part-time with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with examination and treatment under physician direction.
  • Maintain patient flow and document vital signs, histories, medications.
  • Record patient information in EMR and prepare charts.
  • Obtain diagnostic test results and reports from outside facilities.
  • Process medication refills and pre-authorizations with patients and pharmacies.
  • Maintain patient samples and medications and order supplies.
  • Prepare examination rooms and manage in-office workflows.
  • Answer calls, MyChart messages, and schedule appointments.
  • Manage EMR/Practice Management in-baskets and queues.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other routine clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant program graduate or previous Medical Assisting experience required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Maintain patient flow and document review of systems, vital signs, medical history, and medications.
  • Accurately record patient information in the EMR and prepare charts by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing medical records.
  • Obtain diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other records from outside facilities as needed.
  • Process medication refills and pre-authorizations while communicating with patients, pharmacies, and insurance companies.
  • Maintain patient samples and medications, dispose of expired medications, and order medical supplies as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain clean, fully supplied examination rooms.
  • Obtain pertinent medical information to support medical decision-making according to office protocols.
  • Answer calls, respond to MyChart messages, schedule appointments, and check patients in and out.
  • Manage EMR/Practice Management in-baskets, workflow logs, work queues, and related office tasks.
  • Complete pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries as needed.
  • Operate EKGs, cardiac monitors, and other equipment to perform routine diagnostic tests.
  • Perform clinical duties such as phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with safety, legal, quality, and patient experience standards.
  • May assist with training new employees or coordinate/oversee work queues in the office.
