Job summary

Sentara Orthopedic Trauma Specialists in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Medical Assistant to support clinical and front-desk duties in a fast-paced orthopedic setting. This full-time day position requires patient care, room preparation, and collaboration with physicians and nursing staff.

Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000. Minimum education: high school diploma and MA program graduate; certification within nine months; BLS within 90 days; one year related experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Certification must be obtained within 9 months of employment.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year of clinical/administrative experience; phlebotomy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care and administrative tasks under supervision.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians, NP/PA, and RN.
• Handle phlebotomy and specimen collection when needed.
• Maintain accurate charting and documentation.

Position Status: Full-time Days

Overview

The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Certification must be received within (9) nine months of employment in one of the following certification programs:
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or
CMA- Certified Medical Assistant or
RMA- Registered Medical Assistant or
EMT- Emergency Medical Technician

Experience

• One year of clinical/administrative experience
• Phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
