Job summary

Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team on Shelbyville Road. This full-time, first-shift role offers a $2,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires and growth opportunities in a supportive environment.

You will provide direct patient care, take vitals, document in EPIC, prepare patients for exams, coordinate follow-up care, and assist with procedures while building relationships within our community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of direct patient care experience in a medical setting.
• Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program with hands-on clinical training.
• Basic computer skills; EPIC experience a plus.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical support to physicians and APPs.
• Obtain vital signs, collect patient history, and reconcile medications.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist with patient flow throughout the clinic.
• Document patient information accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care.
• Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing and specialty procedures.
• After clinical competency, perform procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vaccinations.
• Maintain a safe, organized, patient-focused clinical environment.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience providing direct, hands-on patient care in a medical office, clinic, or similar healthcare setting, including duties such as: Obtaining vital signs Documenting patient history and medications Performing clinical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, or administering injections
• OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on clinical experience.

Additional requirements include

• Successful completion of Medical Assistant orientation and clinical competency assessment upon hire.
• Basic computer skills (experience with EPIC or another electronic medical record system is a plus).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire for Occupational Medicine positions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant certification through AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP .
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
