Baptist Health’s BHMG Surgery in Lexington, KY is looking for a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient clinic.

You will obtain vital signs, document patient history, manage EPIC, schedule tests, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate procedures, with on-site presence required. EKGs, phlebotomy, and injections may be performed as competency allows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduates of accredited MA programs with hands-on patient care experience preferred.
• Experience in clinical settings with vital signs and documentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and patient history.
• Reconcile medications and document interactions.
• Facilitate patient flow and scheduling in outpatient clinic.
• Manage EPIC EMR, process medication requests and prior authorizations.
• Coordinate tests and procedures; perform EKGs, phlebotomy or injections as needed.

Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* **Or** Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.* Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.* Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.* BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire. **Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:** * Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.* **Or** graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
