UPMC Endocrinology in Lemoyne is looking for a Medical Assistant. The position is Monday–Friday 7:30am–3:30pm or 8:00am–4:30pm. The salary range is $18.12–$27.76 based on experience.

Responsibilities
- Accompany patients to exam/procedure room.
- Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
- Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
- Relay instructions to patients/families.
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
- Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
- Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
- Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
- Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
- Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
- Manage inventory of supplies and restock rooms.
- Check schedules and organize patient flow; answer calls and provide pertinent information including patient education as directed.
- Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure; phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs as applicable.
- Assist physicians with procedures and comply with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain confidentiality of medical records and comply with all UPMC Health System policies.
- Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
- Other front office responsibilities as required and perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology and examination/treatment room responsibilities.
- Medical Assistant, Senior:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience.
- Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks.
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
