Job summary

Silver Cross Hospital in Lemont is seeking a patient care–oriented team member to assist in ambulatory care. You will help with rooming, vital signs, medication review, and coordination of labs and EKGs.

Responsibilities include point‑of‑care testing, injections, triage of patient communications, and handling prior authorizations under supervision. Must have a high school diploma or GED; CPR certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA preferred but not required.
• Experience as Patient Care Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant encouraged.
• CPR Certification required.
• Knowledge of medical practice and patient care procedures.

• Initiate rooming procedures prior to Provider visit; obtain health history.
• Obtain vital signs and review medication list and allergies.
• Coordinate blood draws and perform EKGs; complete point-of-care testing and injections.
• Monitor patient messages, triage calls, and obtain prior authorizations for medications.

Position Summary : Assists in delivery of primary healthcare, patient care management, and some clerical duties (as needed) in an ambulatory environment. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Initiate rooming procedures prior to Provider office visit:

• Obtain health history
• Obtain vital signs
• Review medication list and allergies

Other duties include:

• Coordinate blood draws
• Perform EKGs
• Complete point-of-care testing
• Administer injections
• Support multiple providers simultaneously, providing any necessary services to remain on schedule throughout the day
• Monitor patient messages and triage patient calls
• Notify patients of lab results and medication refills, as directed
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications

Requirements:

• Knowledge of medical practice to assist in patient care.
• Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Education :

• High school diploma or GED required. Graduation or completion of Certified Medical Assistant preferred, not required.
• Experience: Patient Care Technicians and Certified Nursing Assistant experience can be considered.
• CPR Certification.

Work Shift Details:

Days - Variable weekday and weekend, Must be available to work nights, rotating weekends and holidays

The expected pay for this position is listed below:

19.45 - 24.32
