Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical teams under supervision, preparing patients and equipment, and handling clerical duties in a fast-paced environment.

You will collect medical histories, assist with exams, manage specimens and lab orders, and ensure accurate demographics, referrals, and co-pays while delivering patient-centered care and exceptional service.

Qualifications

  • Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent computer skills including EMR, word processing, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient and equipment for exams/procedures and maintains exam rooms and clinical area.
  • Performs medical history collection and medication refill, per protocol.
  • Collects and prepares lab specimens/lab requisitions accurately and schedules and obtains authorizations for referrals and/or procedures.
  • Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider upon recognition.
  • Adheres to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows.
  • Performs clerical duties and provides front office support duties such as greeting and welcoming patients and providing excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone.
  • Collects co-payments, schedules appointments, updates missing patient demographics, obtains referrals and pre-certifications.
  • Uses patient centered care concepts in delivering care and performing related activities.
