Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to join LVPG-L Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine on the day shift. The role supports clinical care under LPN/RN/provider supervision, with front office responsibilities and patient coordination.

You will prepare patients and exam rooms, collect histories, handle labs, and assist with referrals while upholding patient-centered care in a busy outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant required.
• Ability to adapt to constant change within a healthcare setting.
• Ability to take initiative and function independently as well as collaboratively.
• Excellent computer skills including EMR, word processing, and Excel.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and equipment for exams/procedures and maintains exam rooms and clinical area.
• Performs medical history collection and medication refill, per protocol.
• Collects and prepares lab specimens/lab requisitions accurately and schedules and obtains authorizations for referrals and/or procedures.
• Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider on recognition.
• Adheres to clerical, clinical, and EMR workflows; performs front office duties and greeting patients.
• Collects co-payments, schedules appointments, updates demographics, obtains referrals and pre-certifications.
• Performs patient-centered care in delivering care and related activities.
