Job summary

Point Meadows Surgery Center is seeking a Medical Assistant/CNA to support preoperative and postoperative patient care in our Jacksonville, FL ambulatory surgery center. The role emphasizes patient comfort, safety, and efficient workflow through direct patient assistance, basic clinical tasks, and maintaining a clean environment.

Hours are Monday–Friday (40 hours/week) with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or 3–5 years of patient aide experience.
• CNA I & II certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff and RN with patient admissions and preparation.
• Help patients change, secure belongings, and transport within the facility.
• Obtain and record vital signs (BP, temp, pulse, respirations).
• Assist with patient mobility, bathroom needs, and comfort measures.
• Provide nourishment to patients in recovery area.
• Perform CLIA-waived testing (e.g., pregnancy and blood glucose).
• Remove IVs and transport lab specimens.
• Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment, including terminal cleaning of equipment.
• Practice infection control and use PPE appropriately.
• Communicate effectively with patients, escorts, and team members.
• Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and teamwork.
• Manage time effectively and maintain supplies.
• Assist with inventory and quality improvement activities.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide nourishment to patients in the recovery area.

• Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment, including terminal cleaning of stretchers, recliners, and equipment.
• Use appropriate infection control practices and personal protective equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, escorts, and team members.
• Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and positive teamwork.
• Manage time effectively and maintain adequate supplies.
• Assist with inventory, logistical tasks, and other duties assigned.
• Participate in quality improvement and maintain high patient satisfaction.
