Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking qualified medical assistants to support outpatient clinics with general medical care under licensed supervision. Positions available include full-time and per diem roles.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, documenting patient history, preparing for exams, and assisting physicians with procedures, tests, and referrals in a walk-in outpatient setting.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent required; six months to one year related experience and/or training acceptable; combination of education and experience.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred.
  • CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and promptly.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedures.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
  • Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance as instructed.
  • Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
  • Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
  • Document patient immunizations accurately and administer per procedure.
  • Assist with physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
