Job summary

Arkansas Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant/Nurse to support patient exams in a fast-paced dermatology clinic. You will record medical histories, prepare patients for treatment, and assist providers with procedures and wound care.

The role requires strong communication, professionalism, and a caring demeanor. Travel to other offices for training may be required, and adherence to HIPAA and OSHA standards is essential.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during exams and treatment.
• Record medical history and confirm visit purpose.
• Obtain documentation prior to patient preparation for treatment.
• Prepare patients for examination.
• Assist providers with examinations and procedures (blood draws, injections, wound care).
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and OSHA safety practices.
• Maintain accurate electronic charts in EHR.
• Educate patients.
• Return patient phone calls.
• Under provider direction, authorize drug refills and share prescription information with pharmacies.
• Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens.

Job description

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive:

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exams and treatment.
• Recording medical history and confirming the purpose of the visit.
• Ensure proper documentation is obtained prior to preparing the patient for treatment.
• Prepares patients for examination.
• Help providers examine and treat patients. Many hands‑on elements such as blood draws, injections, wound care, and assisting during procedures are a requirement for this position.
• HIPAA compliance and safe OSHA practices.
• Maintain accurate electronic charts in EHR.
• Patient Education.
• Returning patient phone calls.
• Under provider direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Collecting, documenting, and delivering lab specimens.
