Job summary

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to work full-time in the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex in Gettysburg, PA. You will provide comprehensive nursing care under supervision and support the nursing staff in a fast-paced correctional healthcare environment.

The role requires patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, and maintaining clinical areas and records. Training occurs during a 2-week orientation period with on-the-job shadowing.

Qualifications

• Currently hold a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Effective communication skills.
• Pleasant telephone manner.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant will perform initial intake screening on new receptions, take vital signs, and complete intake forms per protocol.
• Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas for the facility.
• Phoning verification of medications and medical information.
• Obtain lab specimens as ordered by the physician (including venipunctures).
• Perform treatments ordered by a Physician.
• Maintain medication records.
• Administer tuberculin skin testing on new intakes and annual follow-ups.
• Typing of various reports, letters, and memoranda.
• Answering telephone and process calls.
• Maintain filing system and confidentiality of information.
• Follow universal precautions at all times.
• Maintain a pleasant working attitude.
• Any other duties as assigned.

INCREASED PAY RATES - TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM - GENEROUS PTO PACKAGE

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is looking for dedicated and hard-working Medical Assistants (MA) to work full-time in the medical department at the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex located in Gettysburg, PA. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care and perform duties under the supervision of an LPN.

Available Shifts:

Full-time Days (7 am - 7:30 pm) with rotating weekends

Job Responsibilities:

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of daily tasks and duties, including performing the initial intake screening on new receptions, taking vital signs, and completing all appropriate intake forms per written protocol. In addition, the Medical Assistant will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas for the facility. Other responsibilities of the Medical Assistant will include:

• Phoning verification of medications and medical information.
• Obtain lab specimens as ordered by the physician (including Venipunctures).
• Performing various treatments ordered by a Physician.
• Maintaining medication records.

This position provides a 2 week orientation period where you will be training on the job and shadowing with the nursing staff.

(Please note that the pay range is not a sliding scale based on experience; it reflects the base pay as well as the differentials offered between shifts.)

Requirements

The Medical Assistant is a fast paced position, and as such, we must have someone who has the ability to multi-task and has a good grasp of patient assessment skills. In addition, the Medical Assistant must also bring some clerical experience and ability to type to the position in order to be considered.
