Job summary

Baptist Health's BHMG Family Medicine in Georgetown, KY is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic. You will take vital signs, assist with medications, collect histories, and support patient flow while managing EPIC and scheduling.

Role may involve performing EKGs, venipuncture, injections, and phlebotomy after competency. Strong communication and organization are essential to support providers and ensure efficient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience with direct patient care in a clinical setting.
• Graduate of an accredited MA training program with hands-on patient experience.
• Clinician competency assessment and MA orientation required.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience a plus.
• BLS from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required within 90 days of hire for Occupational Medicine.

Responsibilities

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG's, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).
• Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum, required.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
• Basic computer skills, experience with EMR System a plus.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
