Job summary

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a Medical Assistant to assist physicians with in-office procedures. You will perform phlebotomy, run laboratory tests, and ensure quality control while maintaining equipment and instrumentation.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Medical Assistant certification from one of the recognized boards, and a valid driver’s license. Prior clinic experience and venipuncture ability are preferred.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

• High School or GED

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES

• Valid Medical Assistant Certification Required from one of these 5 approved boards:
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) from the National Health career Association (NHA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing
• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical Technologist (AMT)
• The National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
• Nationally Certified Medical Assistant - RMA(AAH) from American Allied Health
• Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) from American Medical Certification Association
• Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

• One year experience as a medical assistant in clinic or physician’s office with ability to perform venipuncture preferred.

Self-motivated and self-starter with ability work independently with limited supervision. Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.

TRAVEL

• Standard Core Workdays/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
