Job description

Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant at Dignity Health Medical Foundation clinics, now part of CommonSpirit Health, you will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of daily activities for patients and the clinical team. Your responsibilities include proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is current and complete for each patient seen in our facility. The role involves managing multiple patients daily, depending on the number of physicians onsite.

Your success in this role stems from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and demonstrate empathy for patients. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a Medical Assistant interested in career growth.

Daily Activities
  • Assist in preparing patients for examinations or procedures, help with procedures, relay instructions from physicians to patients or authorized persons, and collect patient data.
  • Administer medications as directed by the physician and perform accurate vital sign measurements and documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, supporting the physician or provider’s practice under clinical supervision.
  • Manage medical records, including charts and EMR systems.
  • Communicate and document patient concerns to physicians, physician’s assistants, or nurses.
  • Coordinate with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to obtain authorizations for medications, including refills.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or military training equivalent, recognized by Dignity Health Medical Foundation HR and the State Division of Allied Health Professions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and pharmacology relevant to the Medical Assistant scope of practice required.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least six months of outpatient Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Certification through one of the approved agencies, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, or others listed.
  • Familiarity with electronic practice management systems preferred.

Pay Range

$23.00 - $32.66 per hour
