Definition: Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant works interdependently with other healthcare professionals to provide quality healthcare to the patient. The Medical Assistant is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. The Medical Assistant must be flexible and able to cover all nonmanagerial aspects of the clinic but able to spot problems and recommend solutions management.

Must be a graduate of a vocational or technical college in medical assisting.
CPR certification must be acquired within 6 months of appointment. A minimum of 1 year of Pain management or primary care experience.

Office settings and traveling to off-site locations
The Medical Assistant will spend long hours sitting, walking, standing, and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The Medical Assistant will also have to do some varied activities including stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and crouching. Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, talking, hearing,g and specific vision abilities including depth perception, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Occasional lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.
