Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in Washington seeks a Medical Assistant to maintain efficient daily patient flow. You will greet patients, prepare charts, record vitals and medical history, support clinicians, perform basic lab tasks, and document visits in the EMR, contributing to a smooth, patient-centered clinic.

Requirements include High School Diploma or GED, WA MA certification, and AHA-BLS CPR. Preferred: 1 year MA experience. A sign-on bonus is offered for qualified external applicants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant certification program or equivalent military training (i.e. Hospital Corpsman).
• WA Medical Assistant Certification.
• AHA-BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Greet, prepare, and assist patients during visits including recording vitals and medical history.
• Perform basic lab tests, phlebotomy, EKGs, and communicate results under supervision.
• Document medical visits, procedures, orders, histories, diagnoses, prescriptions, and referrals in the EMR.
• Review documentation for accuracy and confidentiality in line with compliance requirements.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms, schedule appointments and referrals, and support front office duties as needed.
• Coordinate patient flow and assist with education and communications.

As our Medical Assistant, you\'ll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team.

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.

• Patient Preparation & Support: Greets, prepares, and assists patients during visits, including recording vitals, taking medical history, and providing mobility aid.
• Clinical Procedures & Lab Work: Performs basic lab tests, phlebotomy, EKGs, administers approved medications, and communicates lab results under provider supervision.
• Medical Record Documentation: Accurately documents medical visits, procedures, orders, patient history, diagnoses, prescriptions, and referrals in the electronic medical record.
• Documentation Review & Compliance: Reviews medical documentation for accuracy and consistency, complying with legal/ethical requirements for patient confidentiality.
• Clinic Operations & Supply Management: Prepares/cleans instruments, maintains tidy and stocked exam rooms, manages supplies, and schedules various appointments and referrals.
• Administrative & Communication Support: May handle front office duties like billing/registration, coordinates patient flow for education, and manages phone communications.

• High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and completion of a Medical Assistant certification program at an accredited institution or validation of equivalent military training (i.e. Hospital Corpsman) that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.
