Job summary

Terra Fertility PLLC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patients with both clinical and administrative tasks in our Downtown Boston and Dedham clinics.

You will room patients, take vitals, perform phlebotomy, assist with procedures such as HSGs, saline sonograms, IUIs, and endometrial biopsies, enter data into EMR, manage supplies, and coordinate follow-up care while upholding HIPAA.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Medical Assistant certification or LPN licensure is required.
  • Phlebotomy certification strongly preferred, with documentation of at least 200 successful blood draws.
  • At least 1+ years clinical experience required.
  • Women’s Health or fertility experience is preferred.
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite is expected.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients professionally and compassionately.
  • Record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, BP, height, weight).
  • Willingness to learn basic OBGYN ultrasound skills.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection tasks.
  • Assist providers during procedures (HSG, saline sonograms, IUIs, endometrial biopsies).
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms; restock and disinfect.
  • Schedule follow-ups and coordinate care with staff.
  • Enter clinical data into the EMR accurately and timely.
  • Schedule labs and review results with appropriate disposition.
  • Educate patients on procedures within scope of practice.
  • Document urine pregnancy tests in EMR and communicate with the team.
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols.
  • Keep rooms stocked with clean supplies and linens; weekly checks.
  • Monitor and order clinical supplies to maintain clinic function.
  • Support QA and infection control practices; maintain HIPAA compliance.

The Medical Assistant at Terra Fertility plays a critical role in the patient experience, providing both clinical and administrative support. This position assists patients throughout their visit, including rooming, collecting vitals, phlebotomy, scheduling follow-up appointments, maintaining exam rooms, and supporting physicians during diagnostic and treatment procedures such as HSGs, saline sonograms, and IUIs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and room patients in a professional, compassionate manner.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, and weight.
  • Willingness to learn basic OBGYN ultrasound skills.
  • Perform blood draws (phlebotomy) and other specimen collection tasks as required.
  • Assist providers during procedures such as HSG, saline sonograms, IUIs, and endometrial biopsies.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, including cleaning, restocking, and disinfecting.
  • Schedule patient follow-up appointments and coordinate care with administrative staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of clinical information into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Schedule lab tests as directed; review results and annotate appropriate disposition.
  • Educate patients on procedures and answer basic clinical questions within scope of practice.
  • Perform urine pregnancy test, document results in EMR, and communicate with physician, nurse practitioner, or rad technician prior to exam/procedure.
  • Cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing instruments using an autoclave, while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols. Must ensure accurate and detailed documentation of all sterilization procedures and instrument tracking.
  • Clean stationary room equipment, underside of exam tables, and provide clean/linens/supplies for all patient rooms’ weekly minimum, or as needed.
  • Monitor and order clinical supplies to maintain efficient clinic function.
  • Support quality assurance and infection control practices.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to deliver seamless care.
  • Participate in training and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
Employment Details and Benefits
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position based on-site in Downtown Boston (Seaport-three days per week) and Dedham, Massachusetts (two days per week). The typical schedule for the postion is 6am-2.30pm, with some variability and potential for occasional weekend and holiday coverage.

Requirements
