Job description

Become a part of our caring community
Why this role exists:

Our Medical Assistants help make sure everything runs smoothly between checking in and seeing the doctor. They prepare patients by bringing them to the exam room, doing basic health checks, and explaining things clearly and kindly. By doing this, they help make sure patients get good care and doctors can work more efficiently.

How You'll Make an Impact:

In this onsite position, you report to the Center Administrator and take on a more specialized role. Instead of just helping with procedures, you become a Patient Specialist. Your main job is to make sure patients are fully prepared before the doctor sees them. By doing this, you allow the doctors to concentrate only on making medical decisions, because everything else is complete.

What You Will Do:
  • Intake & Clinical Rooming: Beyond standard vitals, you will perform "Intake," including medication and allergy verification, patient history documentation, and conducting validated screenings as needed (e.g., PHQ-2, Fall Risk, etc.).
  • Inbox & Worklist Management: Manage the EMR inbox using specific routing rules to handle patient messages, lab results, and medication adherence follow-ups with pharmacies. Your goal is a same-day "touch" for all tasks to maintain clinical flow.
  • Education & Loop-Back: Your role is to make sure patients really understand what they need to do next. You do this by asking them to repeat back the instructions in their own words (the loop-back method). This helps avoid mistakes or confusion, so things don't have to be redone, and helps patients stay healthier.
Requirements:
Knowledge:
  • HIPAA & Safety policies - Protects privacy and follows safety requirements.
  • Infection prevention and OSHA - Applies infection control and safety standards.
  • Computer literacy
Skills:
  • Delivers responsive, patient-centered support
  • Accurately records patient care information
  • Applies practical patient care techniques
  • Recognizes, manages emotions effectively
  • Works effectively across professional teams
  • Conveys information clearly and compassionately
Abilities:
  • Recognize risks and workflow needs in real time
  • Perform clinical tasks safely and consistently (assessed in demonstration)
  • Maintain accuracy across repetitive tasks
  • Communicate clearly and be easily understood
  • Perform basic calculations accurately
Other Requirements:
  • Current or in progress BLS certification (for certain levels or state required)
  • Graduated from MA training program or at least 3 years experience
  • Right to work in the United States
  • Work the assigned clinic hours
Preferred:
Knowledge:
  • Document screenings using approved, standardized tools
  • Follow safe vaccine administration standards
  • Route messages to support care POCT and specimen handling
  • Value-based care fundamentals
