Job summary

ProgressiveHealth is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant for our Canton, MS site, joining a dedicated team at a major manufacturing facility. You will greet patients, prepare rooms, and assist with occupational health care, including monitoring vitals and performing routine tests.

The role requires CMA certification or eligibility, CPR/AED, strong computer skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • CMA certification or eligible for CMA credential.
  • Two years of hands-on patient care experience in a health center/clinic preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain before start date.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation and OSHA regulations preferred.
  • Able to stand, walk, and sit for long shifts.
  • Occupational health experience a plus.
  • Strong customer service and professional communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team, with confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and escort patients to exam areas; measure vital signs.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for exams and assist providers.
  • Support care for acute and chronic occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and dispose of waste per protocols.
  • Assist with inventory and stocking of medical supplies.
  • Maintain logs and perform required checks (e.g., refrigerated temps).
  • Administer first aid and operate diagnostic equipment (EKG, spirometry, X-ray, hearing booth).
  • Perform injections or treatments as ordered; document accurately.
  • Handle front desk tasks and administrative duties as needed.

– ProgressiveHealth Occ Health, LLC – Canton, MS Are you a compassionate and skilled Certified Medical Assistant looking for an exciting opportunity in occupational health? Look no further! ProgressiveHealth is seeking a dedicated CMA to join our dynamic team at a major manufacturing facility in Canton, MS.

NOW HIRING - Night Shift, Weekends!
What will you be doing in this role?
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam areas, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient exams
  • Assists mid-level practitioner with care of acute and chronic occupational injuries and illness
  • Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient exams, maintaining a safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures.
  • Keeps exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintains instruments, and prepares sterilization as required. Properly disposes of contaminated supplies.
  • Aids in supply inventory and stocking.
  • Aids in maintaining all logs and required checks (refrigerated temps, etc.)
  • Administers first aid support
  • Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), Spirometry, X-ray, hearing booth, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests
  • Performs injections or treatments as ordered or per protocol
  • Maintains all documentation, procedures, and records to ensure compliance
  • Performs administrative tasks and assists at the front desk

Schedules:
  • Weekend Part time shifts (7PM-7AM)
    • Saturday and Sunday
    • 12 hr. shifts
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Assistant from the American Academy of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologist Organization, or current registration with the American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • OR two years’ work experience in patient care specifically at a health center/doctor’s office
  • CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of employment; maintain and provide proof of current certification(s)
  • Basic knowledge of workers' compensation and OSHA regulations, preferred
  • The ability to stand, walk, and sit throughout entire assigned shift
  • Previous occupational health experience is a plus
  • A high degree of professionalism and customer service in both written and verbal communication
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment, without constant supervision
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with databases and with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
