Job summary

Foot & Ankle Clinic of the Virginias, a division of US Foot & Ankle Specialists, is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our podiatry team in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

You will work closely with physicians to provide hands-on patient care, take vitals, assist with procedures, document in the EMR, and help with basic podiatric services while ensuring HIPAA compliance and excellent patient service.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1+ year of clinical experience
  • CMA or RMA certification preferred
  • Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to travel between local office locations, as needed

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
  • Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services
  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
  • Manage lab specimens, insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions
  • Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance

Foot & Ankle Clinic of the Virginias, a division of US Foot & Ankle Specialists, is seeking a compassionate and dependable Medical Assistant to join our growing podiatry team. As a Medical Assistant, you will work directly alongside our physicians to provide hands-on patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with patients, supporting providers during procedures, and being part of a collaborative clinical team.

What You'll Do


  • Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures

  • Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR

  • Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)

  • Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education

  • Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed

  • Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service

  • Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies

  • Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance


What We're Looking For


  • High School Diploma or GED required
