Job summary

BHMG Primary Care Barbourville is hiring a Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include taking vitals, recording history, reconciling medications and supporting clinic workflow.

Ideal candidates have MA training or 1 year of hands-on care, current BLS, and MA certification or RN/LPN licensure. On-site role with opportunities for EKGs, phlebotomy and test coordination as competency grows.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant program or 1 year of hands-on clinical care.
• Current Basic Life Support (AHA) within first 90 days of hire.
• MA certification or active LPN/RN licensure in state of practice required or preferred.

Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. Additional duties involve managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the role may also require performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/orphlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers. This role requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions. **Minimum Requirements:** * Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinic procedures (e.g. EKGs, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines).* Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
