Job summary

American Family Care Austin-William-Cannon is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under licensed supervision in an outpatient clinic setting. The role involves patient intake, obtaining vitals and medical history, and preparing patients for exams at a franchised location with potential variation by site.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures, collecting samples, administering treatments, documenting care, and supporting immunizations and referrals as needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred.
• Six months to one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Outpatient clinic experience is a plus, with ability to work in a franchised setting.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered correctly
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties as assigned
