Job summary

American Family Care Hixson is seeking a General Medical Assistant to provide frontline medical care in our outpatient clinic. You will work directly with the franchised location to support patient visits, including vitals, patient history, and exam preparation.

The role involves administering treatments per approved procedures, collecting specimens, processing labs, and maintaining accurate documentation in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Requires an AA degree or equivalent; related training may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• AMT registration is preferred.
• AAMA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedures
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house testing
• Perform laboratory tests, QC, and equipment maintenance as instructed
• Respond to lab messages and callback requests
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations
• Ensure immunizations are documented and administered per procedure
• Coordinate physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
