Job summary

American Family Care Gunbarrel is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting under the direction of a licensed provider.

The role involves taking vitals, reviewing medical history, preparing for exams, administering medications, performing laboratory tests, drawing blood, and maintaining documentation. Duties may vary between franchises depending on location.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
• AMT registration and AAMA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance as instructed.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
• Ensure immunizations are well documented and administered per procedures.
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
