Southern Gastroenterology Associates is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Representative to join our billing team in a full-time or contract role up to 1 year. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in medical billing and AR, and must have Athena Practice experience to independently manage outstanding claims through resolution.

Responsibilities include managing insurance and patient AR, reviewing aging reports, and following up on denied or underpaid claims with payer portals.

Formación

• 3+ years of medical billing and accounts receivable experience.
• Athena Practice experience – REQUIRED.
• Experience with insurance AR, denials, appeals, and corrected claims.
• Commitment to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Responsabilidades

• Manage insurance and patient AR, review aging reports.
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, rejected, and underpaid claims.
• Contact insurers and use payer portals to obtain claim status and resolve issues.
• Research denials, eligibility, COB, authorization, coding/modifier issues, and other billing discrepancies.
• Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals when appropriate.
• Review EOBs and ERAs to verify payments and patient responsibility.
• Identify and resolve underpayments and account discrepancies.
• Maintain detailed account notes and follow-up documentation.
• Meet established AR follow-up, productivity, and collection goals.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient information.
