Job summary

Coho Integrated Solutions in Ohio is seeking a reliable Medical Appointment Clerk to support the on-call primary clerk at Wright-Patterson AFB. The role focuses on patient scheduling, eligibility verification, and accurate maintenance of clinic calendars to ensure timely access to care.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma (GED acceptable) and GenESIS experience, with familiarity using CHCS, AHLTA, and MHS GENESIS.

Responsibilities

• Schedule medical appointments via phone, secure messaging, or approved methods.
• Maintain appointment schedules using CHCS, AHLTA, or MHS GENESIS.
• Validate patient eligibility through DEERS and register new patients.
• Keep schedules and logs up-to-date using TRICARE Online and detail codes.
• Contact patients to schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments.
• Prepare patient notifications for reminders, no-shows, and cancellations.
• Create and deliver messages to PCMs and clinic nurses per protocols.

Job description

Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Medical Appointment Clerk to serve in an on-call capacity supporting the primary hired Clerk at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This role supports patient scheduling and clinic operations by booking medical appointments, validating patient eligibility, maintaining accurate schedules, and ensuring patients receive timely access to care in accordance with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) guidelines.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

• Schedule medical appointments via phone, secure messaging, or other approved request methods, ensuring compliance with local appointing guidelines and access-to-care standards.
• Maintain appointment schedules using government medical systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, or MHS GENESIS.
• Validate patient eligibility through the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS) and update demographic information; register new patients, including newborns, as needed.
• Keep patient schedules and logs accurate and up to date, using system tools and protocols (detail codes, freezing slots, TRICARE Online) for slot management, rescheduling, and cancellations.
• Contact patients via phone or secure messaging to schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments as needed.
• Assist in preparing patient notifications for appointment reminders, no-shows, and cancellations.
• Create and deliver telephone messages (t-cons) to Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and clinic nurses in accordance with standard protocols and clinic guidelines.

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
• Experience:
  • GENESIS Experience preferred.
