Medical Affairs, Data Analyst (Healthcare & Scientific)

This role will report to the Senior Director of Publications within Medical Affairs and will support the Real-World Data/Evidence (RWD/E) activities of Guardant Health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, responsible for generating insights and evidence analytics across various domains, including observational research, reimbursement and payer evidence generation, clinical development, KOL research requests related to oncology diagnostics, and contributing to scientific publications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, oversee, and execute RWE studies supporting clinical utility, health outcomes, and economic value across all Guardant Health oncology diagnostics products, in collaboration with the Medical Affairs field team, cross-functional partners, and external KOLs.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align RWD/E strategies and data visualization, translating scientific and clinical needs into actionable insights, ensuring delivery of high-impact analytics and outcomes.
  3. Develop, validate, and execute statistical programs using software such as R, Python, SAS, and advanced analytics methods; prepare materials for presentation to internal and external audiences.
  4. Present study results and communicate complex data clearly to stakeholders, including KOLs, academic collaborators, internal teams, and policymakers.
  5. Partner with internal and external KOLs in developing scientific publications, including conference abstracts, posters, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and white papers.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in oncology, diagnostics, or precision medicine is a strong plus.
  • Experience designing and deploying advanced analytical techniques and algorithms for healthcare data insights.
  • Master's or PhD in outcomes research, epidemiology, statistics, data science, mathematics, or related fields.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in outcomes research within pharma, biotech, or device sectors.
  • Proficiency in R (preferred), Python, or SAS, with hands-on programming experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed team environment.
  • Extensive experience in real-world data analytics, observational study design, and outcomes research.
  • Adept at adapting to new methodological approaches in a rapidly evolving field.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating evidence clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Work Model: Hybrid: In-office days are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for U.S. employees within 50 miles of a Guardant facility, fostering collaboration and focused work.

Pay transparency: The salary range for this position in Palo Alto, CA, or Redwood City, CA, is $144,200 to $198,250, excluding benefits, bonuses, or equity. Actual pay depends on location, skills, experience, and education.
