Summary

The Medical Advisor & KOL Engagement plays a key role in translating the science behind our products into clear, engaging, and medically sound communication. This position supports the adaptation and development of product claims for the U.S. market, oversees a range of internal and external scientific projects and studies, and ensures a deep understanding of clinical claims and product information. And ensure relevance in the US market by working with strategic key medical KOLs The ideal candidate is both analytically driven and creatively minded, able to bring scientific stories to life while executing initiatives that deepen KOL relationships and strengthen Avène’s scientific presence in the U.S.

Medical Communication & KOL Engagement
  • Help communicate the medical science behind the Avène products, including clinical claims and product information, to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Manage U.S. medical activities, including KOL interactions, medical events, and clinical study support.
  • Support the adaptation and substantiation of product claims for the U.S. market in collaboration with regulatory and brand teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, dermatologists, and other healthcare professionals to support scientific communication initiatives.
  • Track and manage budgets for scientific and KOL activities.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with U.S. regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Identify opportunities to share scientific insights at conferences, symposia, and advisory boards.
Medical knowledge training & Educational Content
  • Translate complex medical & scientific information, clinical claims, and product information into clear, compelling content for internal teams, medical education for field detailing and HCPs, with 1-2 visits monthly.
  • Develop scientific materials such as presentations, training decks, FAQs, scientific narratives, and product dossiers to support medical detailing and brand positioning.
  • Deliver training for internal teams to ensure understanding of product science, clinical data, claims, and applications.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and create educational programs to enhance team scientific expertise.
  • Participate in oral, written, and digital scientific communications at conferences and medical events.
  • Ensure all scientific materials are accurate, current, and compliant with U.S. medical and regulatory standards.
  • Manage the publication process, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and educational content.
  • Collaborate with patient organizations to implement patient-centric educational initiatives.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with HQ Medical Affairs, Brand, HCP Marketing, Education, Sales, Claims, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure scientific accuracy, clinical claim alignment, and content consistency.
  • Provide scientific input during product development, claims assessment, marketing reviews, and training development.
  • Serve as an internal scientific advisor, helping teams interpret data, understand clinical claims, stay current with dermatology trends, and effectively communicate product information.
  • Collaborate with external research partners, KOLs, institutions, and medical associations to support studies and scientific programs.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare regular updates and reports on medical activities, KOL interactions, clinical study progress, and educational initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records of scientific inquiries, claims support, and communication materials.
  • Support internal decision-making and external submissions with high-quality scientific documentation.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, health sciences, nursing, or a related field required; advanced degree (e.g., MSc, PharmD, PhD) preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in a scientific liaison, medical education, or medical communication role.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and managing scientific or medical projects.
  • Experience creating, reviewing, and delivering scientific content and educational materials.
  • Knowledge of product claims, and medical research; dermatology experience preferred.
  • Understanding of clinical study design, data interpretation, and statistical methods.
  • Strong scientific communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to internal teams and external audiences.
  • Experience delivering scientific training or educational programs for healthcare professionals or internal teams.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external partners.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment is a plus.

Work Environment / physical demands / position type and expected hours of work
  • This position based in Secaucus, NJ, and offers a hybrid work arrangement with two remote days each week.
  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment this is a largely sedentary role; however, it requires the ability to lift marketing materials, open product cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • The normal working hours of the office are from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Working weekdays and occasional weekends are expected based on business needs.
  • Ability to Lift/Lower/Carry 25-40lbs: Carry signs, boxes, etc.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 – $160,000

This range represents the base annual full-time salary for all positions within the applicable job grade. The actual salary offer will depend on a range of factors including experience, education, location, and other relevant qualifications. This position is also eligible for a Pierre Fabre bonus, commission, or incentive program in addition to the base pay.
