Job summary

Florida Orthopaedic Institute is seeking a capable Medical Assistant to support our South Tampa providers. You will manage surgical schedules, coordinate pre- and post-operative care, and document in Athena EMR.

A valid Medical Assistant certificate and HS diploma are required, with travel to nearby offices as needed. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced clinic, collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure accurate documentation, timely patient flow, and professional patient experiences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Diploma or Certification required.
• BLS or basic life support certification within 90 days of hire.
• Open to flexible work hours and travel.
• Strong communication and professional presence required.

What You’ll Do:

• Support your assigned provider by managing their surgical schedule, coordinate pre- and post-operative appointments, including medical clearances, labs, and paperwork, ensuring all surgical documents are completed.
• Answer incoming calls, triage messages, and document appropriately in Athena EMR.
• Serve as a liaison between physician, patients, hospitals, attorneys, and internal departments, open, distribute, and manage physician’s mail, correspondence, and calendar.
• Collaborate closely with your team to ensure smooth, high-quality patient flow in a busy clinical environment

What You Need:
