Job summary

MAXIMUS in Augusta, Maine seeks a Lead Consultant – Medicaid to lead advisory engagements with state Medicaid agencies. You will guide strategy, oversee engagements from scoping to delivery, and work with delivery, BD, sales, and capture teams to secure outcomes.

Candidates should have current Medicaid consulting experience as a project leader and be able to advise on policy, program design, financial reviews, and operational improvements across public-sector programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, healthcare administration, or a related field is required.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in senior-level Medicaid roles or consulting to state Medicaid programs.
• Experience leading Medicaid consulting engagements and engaging with senior executives.
• Strong executive communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with MITA, CMS requirements, and certification frameworks (MECT, MEET, SMC).

Responsibilities

• Lead advisory support to public-sector clients from scoping through delivery.
• Develop workplans, governance structures, and objective deliverables aligned to client needs.
• Provide senior oversight to ensure delivery quality and manage risk.
• Recruit and oversee consulting team members for engagements.
• Partner with BD, Sales, and Capture teams to shape win strategies and client messaging.
