Job summary

Louisiana Department of Health seeks a Medicaid Program Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for members, providers, and partners, guiding them through Medicaid programs and eligibility. You will resolve inquiries, update case actions, and ensure timely access to services.

The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, customer service, and analytical skills, with ability to work across systems like LaMEDS. This is a front-line, impact-driven role in Baton Rouge.

Qualifications

• Three years of Medicaid research/analysis experience, or six years in any field, or a bachelor's degree.
• Experience substitution: 30 semester hours equals one year; max 120 sem hrs.
• Excellent communication and customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Receive inbound calls from Medicaid members, potential members, providers, and stakeholders with professional service.
• Provide accurate information on Medicaid programs, eligibility, policies, procedures, and services.
• Research and communicate case status and eligibility using LaMEDS and other systems.
• Process case actions including duplicate card requests and changes to cases.
• Review notes, notices, and determinations to address inquiries and resolve issues.
• Identify trends or discrepancies and escalate through the chain of command.
• Educate callers to resolve inquiries during the initial contact to prevent delays.
