Job summary

American Institutes for Research (AIR) seeks a Healthcare Programmer, Medicaid and Pharmacy to manage, analyze, and report on complex datasets; support research design, documentation, and project coordination; and deliver high-quality data-driven insights.

Preferred candidates have Medicaid policy or pricing data expertise and can work remotely within the United States or from an AIR office. AIR is headquartered in Arlington, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with large-scale healthcare administrative or claims data.
• Direct experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and/or other commercial claims data.
• Direct experience with pharmaceutical pricing data or related data sources.
• Experience using SQL, Python, R and/or other data analysis tools.
• Experience applying SAS in health or social science research.
• Knowledge of advanced analytic techniques; machine learning preferred but not required.
• Proposal and report preparation experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Extract, recode, merge, and de-duplicate datasets for analysis.
• Conduct missing data handling and outlier analyses.
• Perform statistical analyses to support research and reporting.
• Generate customized reports summarizing data analysis results.
• Produce data listings, summary tables, and data collection outputs.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior SAS programmers.
• Debug and revise code by identifying and resolving errors.
• Write and maintain documentation for code, programs, and specs.
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposals.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
