Job summary

HCA Florida West Marion Hospital seeks a Medicaid Eligibility Advocate to screen patients for insurance coverage and government assistance, assess financial needs, and counsel on benefits and co-pays.

You will verify benefits, obtain authorizations, collect documentation, and file applications while coordinating with patients and agency caseworkers to ensure timely processing. This role requires accurate data entry, adherence to policies, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum one-year related experience preferred, preferably in healthcare.
• Relevant education may substitute experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients for insurance coverage, federal/state assistance, or charity applications.
• Re-verify benefits and obtain necessary authorization/referral after the treatment plan is discussed.
• Obtain medical evidence, physician statements, and required documents for eligibility.
• Complete applications and follow up with patients and agency caseworkers for timely processing.
• Enter insurance, demographics and eligibility data accurately; document progress notes in the system.
• Participate in ongoing training programs.
• Follow policies to improve office efficiency; assist with other duties as requested.
• Must make field visits as needed and have reliable transportation.

Education
