Job summary

New York State Department of Health seeks a dedicated team member to support Hearing Officers in preparing for appeal hearings and issuing decisions. You will assemble case folders with all necessary materials, coordinate scheduling, and assist with IT access and room logistics.

Additional duties include QA reviews of notices and decisions, maintaining exhibit logs, and producing data summaries for the Appeals Unit. Medicaid program familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum NYS employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status SG-12 or above.
• Preferred: experience with health insurance programs (Medicaid).
• Preferred: prepping case folders for Administrative Hearings.
• Non-competitive via NY HELPS program eligibility criteria.

Responsibilities

• Support Hearing Officers in preparing for and conducting appeal hearings and issuing decisions.
• Prepare case folders at least two weeks before hearings with all required documents.
• Schedule or reschedule appeal hearings as needed.
• Oversee exhibits process and ensure secure transmission of exhibits.
• QA review of Notices of Decision and Dismissals for accuracy.
• Verify names, addresses, account numbers and appeal numbers in Decisions.
