Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of website development, measurement and analytics, content management, digital marketing and internet technology, such as paid and targeted online media tactics (e.g., AEO, geofencing, retargeting, social media advertising, and Google Ads)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience developing customized marketing and communications solutions based on the needs of diverse stakeholders such as prospective students, campus departments, and institutional leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize among competing tasks.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity and reliability.
  • Must be able to travel within the service region for events as needed.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

Rappahannock Community College (RCC), founded in 1970, provides high-quality educational and training opportunities throughout a 12-county service region an hour east of Richmond on the beautiful western shore of the Chesapeake Bay with access to fresh local seafood and water activities. RCC delivers accessible and affordable educational opportunities, including for-credit transfer and career technical programs, robust distance education coursework, quality dual enrollment courses, and award-winning workforce training and credentialing programs. RCC’s annualized enrollment of 3,900 credit students in 2025-2026 and almost 890 workforce and community development students are supported by almost 140 full-time employees and over 200 part-time/adjunct employees across two main campuses and five satellite sites.

RCC seeks applicants for our Media Services Manager position. This is a full-time classified position with benefits and is telework-eligible. During the first six months, at least two on-site days per week must be spent at our Warsaw campus to support onboarding, team integration, and collaboration with colleagues. After the initial six-month period, on-site days may be split between Warsaw and Glenns as needed. The hiring range for this position is $77,000 - $84,000, commensurate with experience.

Reporting to the Vice President of College Advancement, the Media Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all print and digital marketing projects for internal and external college clients. This position provides timely and accurate information about RCC’s programs, activities, services, and faculty/staff and student achievements to the communities of the college’s service region and statewide, national, and international audiences.

The incumbent in this position manages all media, communications and public relations projects for the college to promote commitment to the college's mission and values and ensure that faculty and staff are well- informed. The Marketing Services Manager works closely with senior administration and deans to ensure that major college communications are consistent with strategy across academic and student services units. This role also assists senior leadership in responding to escalating media inquiries.

In supporting the marketing strategy for the college, the incumbent oversees the performance of paid media campaigns and identifies opportunities for improvement. In collaboration with the Vice President, this position executes and monitors institutional media relations strategies to increase brand awareness and community outreach. This role also works with the Multi-Media Specialist to develop creative and written content for the web and social media.

In addition, the Marketing Services Manager writes engaging content promoting RCC programs, services, students, faculty and staff, for publication and broadcasting in a variety of printed and online media.
