Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years in public relations, media relations, journalism, communications, or agency roles.
  • Experience securing earned media coverage.
  • Strong writing, editing, pitching, and messaging skills.
  • Experience preparing press materials and briefing spokespeople.
  • Ability to translate complex humanitarian information into clear stories.
  • Knowledge of crisis communications and sensitive issue management.
  • Experience in nonprofit, humanitarian, advocacy, or social impact sectors preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute earned media plans across national, regional, trade, broadcast, and digital outlets.
  • Write and pitch press releases, statements, media advisories, op-eds, talking points, and briefing materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, producers, editors and sector influencers.
  • Identify thought leadership opportunities tied to humanitarian crises, advocacy priorities, research, and campaigns.
  • Prepare executives and subject matter experts for media interviews.
  • Manage incoming media inquiries and support crisis communications.
  • Monitor media coverage and public sentiment; track performance and insights.
