Job summary

The California Health Collaborative is seeking a Media & Communications Specialist in Hanford, CA to support the ARCH project's marketing activities. Working with the Project Director and Program Manager, you will plan, create, and implement print, digital, broadcast, and social media content to raise awareness of behavioral health and substance use prevention.

You will develop program messaging, maintain media presence, track analytics, and coordinate with media vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience performing duties related to the essential functions.

JOB SUMMARY:

The California Health Collaborative is seeking aMedia&Communications Specialisttosupportthe marketing activities of the Advancing Resources for Community Health (ARCH)Project.With support from the Project Director and Program Manager, theMedia&Communications Specialistwill leadthe planning, creation, and implementation of print, digital, broadcast, and social media direction ofthe project.TheARCH Projectaims to increase education and awareness of behavioral health and substance use prevention across Kings County. This position is primarily responsible for developing program messaging, maintaininga media presence, implementing marketing and advertising strategies topromote health and education, and tracking media analytics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Collaborate with ARCH team to develop,implement,andmonitormedia,advertising,and communicationcampaignsthroughonline, print,and/orbroadcast,to support programactivities, events, andobjectives.
  • Identifymarketing and social media trends relevant to underserved communities in Kings County and implement strategies to engage community members and partners.
  • Manage multiple social media platformstodrive growth of program audiencesand raise awareness of program services.
  • Design social media posts, educational materials, marketingflyersand pamphlets for program activities.
  • Develop a media schedule/content calendar and communicate plans with the team to gather their ideas and input on content ideas.
  • Serve asprogrammedia liaison to coordinate with media and/or marketing companies to promote program activities, goals, andobjectives.
  • Attendcommunity events with program staff to promote the program, provide education, take videos and photos, and develop media content for the program.
  • Conductlisteningsessions or focus groups with county residents tocollect feedback anddetermineproper direction for media campaigns.
  • Lead the development of press releases and media coverage of program activities.
  • Buildlong termrelationships with online influencers, community organizations, and various stakeholder groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Cross-Program Collaboration

Collaboration across CHC programs to increase awareness of CHC services, promote CHC-branded programs and standardized referral pathways, and consistently utilize CHC's online referral asset (including the CHW Navigation hub and related support programs) to strengthen access, coordination, and continuity of care.

External Awareness & Representation

Proactively promote CHC priorities, programs, and referral assets to all external stakeholders - including enrollees, partner organizations, and community entities to eliminate fragmentation, prevent missed referral opportunities, and ensure consistent awareness and utilization of CHC services.

Employees are expected to maintain a professional and business-appropriate appearance and conduct during all work-related interactions, including virtual meetings.

The employee is required to have their camera turned on and remain visibly present during all company business meetings conducted through Teams, Zoom, or other approved virtual meeting platforms unless otherwise authorized by management due to exceptional circumstances.

Employees participating in virtual meetings must present themselves in a professional manner consistent with workplace expectations, including maintaining appropriate attire, a professional appearance, and a distraction-free environment suitable for business communications.

REQUIRED EDUCTION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Education and experience requirements are a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of experience performing duties related to the essential functions of the position; or an equivalent combination of education, professional experience, and/or lived experience. Relevant experience may include content creation, graphic design, social media marketing, and development of public health messaging.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be performed in a variety of settings, including office environments, community centers, schools, partner agencies, outdoor venues, and event locations which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperature changes, noise levels, and large crowds.

Physical demands will include sitting, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, driving and walking.

Regular local travel is required to support community engagement efforts, including attendance at community events, outreach activities, partner meetings, health fairs, presentations, and other public-facing functions throughout the service area. Travel is expected to comprise approximately 40% of work time and may occur during evenings and weekends as needed to support program objectives. Occasional overnight travel may be required for trainings, conferences, or special events.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

Ability to document and summarize project activities in clear, concise written formats.

Ability to share updates and observations during team meetings to support program improvement.

Ability to communicate effectively with program staff, participants, parents, and community partners in culturally diverse settings, conveying information in a clear and accessible manner.

Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Acrobat, and other relevant software programs.

Avalid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and current vehicle insurance.
