Job Description

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Collections Specialist responsible for the day-to-day collections of open invoices, including locating and notifying customers of delinquent accounts and working to bring accounts to current.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

1. Contact assigned clients who are past due in payments (considered delinquent 60 days past invoice date).
2. Document conversations with past due clients, including recording anticipated payment dates and follow-up actions.
3. Propose potential account write-offs based on collectability and prepare write-off documents to send to third-party collection agencies.
4. Work with the Credit department on open or potential credit issues.
5. Research credit balances and open cash as needed.
6. Resolve issues such as account status, additional invoice copies, and other requests.
7. Handle inbound customer service calls and questions professionally.
8. Handle inbound inquiries from vendors regarding accounts payable issues.
9. Work on reconciliations for past due and pre-paid accounts and initiate corrective entries.
10. Process monthly/daily credit card charges for local and national media advertisers.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. 2-5 years of call center, collections, customer service, and/or sales experience.
3. Experience working in the media industry preferred.
4. Experience with Wide Orbit preferred.
