Job summary

Godwin Heights Public Schools is seeking a Media Clerk at Godwin Heights Middle School in Wyoming, MI for the 2026-2027 school year. This hourly position supports library/media services during school days, with a 6.75-hour daily schedule.

Employment will be through EduStaff. The role includes assisting students and staff with the library catalog, organizing books and media, and promoting a love of literature.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate - Preferred
  • Educational technology experience- Preferred
  • Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college OR Parapro Praxis Assessment Test - Preferred
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Responsibilities

  • Proctor State and District assessments.
  • Selects, receives, and organizes books, multimedia, and other materials and equipment.
  • Suggests appropriate books and multimedia to students for classroom assignments and personal access.
  • Assists students and faculty with the use of the public access catalog.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of literature and current trends in library/media practice and information technology.
  • Organizes physical space to enable smooth flow, including signage and displays.
  • Establishes a culture of investigation and love of literature.
  • Maintain and extend the library collection within budget.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Responsible for own record keeping.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Position: Media Clerk

Location: Godwin Heights Middle School, Godwin Heights Public Schools, Wyoming, MI

Reports To: Middle School Principal

Season: 2026-2027 School Year

School Days Only - 6.75 Hours per day

*Employment will be through EduStaff

Hourly paid position $15.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Proctor State and District assessments.
  • Selects, receives, and organizes books, multimedia, and other materials and equipment.
  • Suggests appropriate books and multimedia to students for classroom assignments and personal access.
  • Assists students and faculty with the use of the public access catalog.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of literature and current trends in library/media practice and information technology.
  • Organizes physical space to enable smooth flow. This includes clear signage, adequate space for different activities, and attractive displays.
  • Establishes a culture of investigation and love of literature.
  • Maintain and extend the library collection in accordance with the school's needs and within budget limitations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Responsible for own record keeping.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors, although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.

Cognitive Functions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing in the English language, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile and negotiate.
