Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools seeks a Librarian for the Y-5-6 Media Center at Ann Arbor Open at Mack. The role leads the building-level media program, curates collections, and partners with teachers to integrate information literacy across the curriculum.

The position requires a Master’s in library/media and MI K-12 library endorsement. Experience with diverse learners and technology integration is preferred, with a focus on reading promotion and equitable access.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Formulate goals, objectives, and evaluation of building level media program.
• Select media and manage the building level media budget to support the instructional program in the school.
• Plan and develop library skill units.
• Maintain all required records for the operation of the building media program.
• Serve as consultant to faculty and administrators in the building.
• Produce media and operation audio-visual equipment including video equipment.
• Participate in professional growth activities.
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Other duties as assigned.
• Inspires and supports the reading lives of both students and teachers through inclusive collections and diverse experiences.
• Provides access to digital resources and equitable opportunities for information literacy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree with major concentration in library/media.

• Curates digital resources and tools to support transformational teaching and learning and develops the digital curation skills of others
• Partners with teachers to design and implement curriculum and assessments that integrate elements of deeper learning, critical thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship, creativity, innovation and the active use of technology
• Encourages and facilitates students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic real-world problem solving
• Provides flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration, making and community

Personalized Professional Learning - Functions as a Lead Learner

• Leads professional learning to cultivate broader understanding of the skills that comprise success in the digital age, i.e., technology tools and apps, information literacy, digital citizenship, etc.

• Promotes the school's strategic plan for digital learning and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation to empower teachers and learners
• Cultivates partnerships within the school and local community to promote engagement and a community of readers
